Full Synopsis.

A film that’s set to take the local industry by storm – with loads of action and humour!

With thrills and spills as seen in movies from southern India, this is a movie that’s going to draw two major communities (Malays and Indians) even closer together …..

Residents of Cinta Manis Estate famed for their close-knit and neighbourly lifestyle, are agog with news of an impending football match between their estate and Red Cobra Estate. The last time the two teams met on the football field was 20 years ago.

The story revolves around two estate workers who are childhood friends, Farid and Shashi. The pair are always at odds with the estate clerk, Ponniah who steals from the rubber tapped by workers to be sold on the black market.

Being very vocal and brave, they champion the fate of the estate workers and in the process makes an impression on Geetha, a young lady.

Meanwhile, all the young people who are eager to represent their estate to win the trophy are trying out for a place on the team. Lots of laughs are in store as Coach Subramaniam (Geetha’s dad) picks his team and trains the players who obviously are not footballers.

The story unfolds that Shashi’s father, Appa was a footballer on the estate team that lost to Red Cobra Estate 20 years ago. A state player then, his promising career came to a sudden halt when his leg was fractured on purpose by Junna, who was hired to ‘do the job’ and end Appa’s career by Ponniah.

The plot thickens when it becomes obvious that Ponniah is out to drive the estate management to bankruptcy so that he and his contacts can buy the shares at below market price.

It becomes apparent then that the football match is actually a ploy of Ponniah’s to win Geetha for himself as Subramaniam owes him a lot of money. If Subramaniam’s team wins, all his debts with interest are paid up but if they lose, Geetha will be handed to Ponniah.

Out of sheer helplessness, Subramaniam attempts to commit suicide but is saved in the nick of time by Geetha. This becomes the driving factor for the estate workers to unite even more and achieve victory while Ponniah and his goons try every trick in the book to bring about their downfall.

A young man named Kublai Khan is sent to audit the estate accounts much to Ponniah’s displeasure, resulting in the young man being set upon and beaten up.

Local heroes Farid and Shashi come to his rescue and Kublai Khan, a keen footballer joins the Cinta Manis Estate team.

Come the day the whole estate is waiting for – the football match and Shashi and Coach Subramaniam are nowhere to be found. Suspecting foul play, Farid puts Kublai Khan in charge of the team and sets out to look for them.

Shashi and Subramaniam have apparently been kidnapped and tied up in a store. Just as Shashi manages to free himself and detonate the bomb that has been tied to Subramaniam’s chest, Ponniah and his goons arrive and a fight ensues.

Meanwhile the football match is underway with the Cinta Manis Estate getting trashed by the Red Cobras who stop at nothing to win!

Farid arrives on the scene to help Shashi who is overpowered by Ponniah and his goons and together, they take them on.

The scoreboard shows 17-0. Cinta Manis Estate is fighting a losing battle as Junna team plays dirty, using a hidden hammer as their weapon of defence! With only 5 minutes to end the game, Red Cobras are assured of victory.

Just then, Farid and Shashi turn up with Ponniah and his goons in two, all tied up. They then join the team and in just a matter of minutes, the score is 17 all!

The suspense mounts as they head for a penalty shootout to determine the winner. Junna puts his all into a kick but its saved by Cinta Manis’ goalkeeper who has moves like Michael Jackson.

It’s now Shashi’s turn to take the penalty shot. Ponniah aims a pistol in his direction but instead, Farid gets shot in the shoulder. Kublai Khan whips out a pistol and shoots Ponniah.

It turns out that Kublai Khan is actually the estate owner’s son (also a Chief Inspector) who was sent to investigate the discrepancies...

What’s going to happen next? Will Cinta Manis Estate win the match?

Malays

Malays are the ethnic majority in Malaysia and compose a large population that reside in the outskirts and areas just outside the city. They are constitutionally Muslims and were traditionally farmers and fishermen originating from Palembang in Sumatra. They speak the national language which is Bahasa Malaysia, a form of Malay language which is similar to Indonesia.

Malays have a rich heritage in weaving fabrics and wooden handicrafts, much evident in Malay-centric states such as Terengganu and Kelantan. Malays also form the bulk of Parliament and dominate the political scene in Malaysia.

The Chinese

The Chinese have set foot in Malaysian soil since the 15th Century, but it was only in the late 18th Century that they came en masse to Malaysia from Fujian and Guangdong in China to work the booming tin industry. Many of them settled in Kuala Lumpur and were an integral element for making the city as prosperous it is today. Within the Chinese community, you will find many different dialects but the majority in Kuala Lumpur are of Cantonese descent, followed by the Hokkiens.

The Chinese are the economic power of Malaysia, and in Kuala Lumpur, this is evident by the large number of Chinese inhabiting the urban and city areas. Besides being the second largest race in Malaysia, the Chinese are known for their colourful customs and traditions especially during the Chinese New Year. During this time, they put up fantastic displays of ‘Lion’ Dancing beside providing ‘Ang Pows’ - red packets in money to children, a practice that has carried over to the Malays and Indians of Malaysia.

Today, many Chinese in Kuala Lumpur are English-educated, speaking primarily English with some Chinese dialects in between. The Chinese also pride themselves on good education, and to bridge the divide between local dialects, use Mandarin as the medium of communication and teaching. An overwhelming majority of Chinese are involved with the corporate and commercial business sector of Malaysia.

Indians

The Indians in Malaysia are the third largest race, and a sizeable number of them are located in Kuala Lumpur. Originating from Southern India, most Indians practise Hinduism and speak Tamil or Hindi. Most of their customs and traditions are intricately tied with their religion. Hence, during the Hindu festivals such as Deepavali, Indians will perform colourful rites and visit temples. They were traditionally estate workers for tapping rubber when they first set foot in Malaysia. Today, many Indians are involved in the business sector, especially in restaurants.
